The Tale of WeWork Is Being Made Into a TV Show

Hello, and welcome to another edition of The Monitor, WIRED’s pop culture roundup. What’s happening this week? Well, the WeWork saga is being turned into a TV show, and Marvel TV is shutting down. There’s also a trailer for the movie adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s In the Heights. Here we go.

Succession’s Cousin Greg Will Play WeWork’s Founder in a New Show

For anyone who has been paying attention, the saga of WeWork has been quite the story to follow. Now, thanks to the magic of TV, folks will be able to witness it in a whole new way. Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content have acquired the rights to a forthcoming book on the company and are in the process of developing a limited series based on it. The best part? Succession star Nicholas Braun, aka Cousin Greg, is attached to star as WeWork founder Adam Neumann. As part of the deal, the companies are also working on a documentary based on the book, which is being written by Wall Street Journal reporters Eliot Brown and Maureen Farrell.

Marvel Is Winding Down Its TV Division

Marvel TV, the wing of Marvel Entertainment behind shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Jessica Jones, is being merged into the larger Marvel Studios group. According to reports from Variety and The Hollywood Reporter, the shows from that division currently being made for Hulu will continue, but no other projects are in development. Marvel TV honcho Jeph Loeb will stay on for a while but is likely to leave after the transition. The head of programming, Karim Zreik, will take his team to Marvel Studios and continue to handle the shows still in production.

Before he created the theater juggernaut Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda created In the Heights. Now that musical is headed to the silver screen. The movie will be directed by Crazy Rich Asians’ Jon M. Chu and star A Star Is Born’s Anthony Ramos. Check out the first trailer below.
