Showtime Is Making a Limited Series About Uber

Good day, and welcome to this Thursday’s edition of The Monitor, WIRED’s roundup of all things pop culture. What’s in store this time around? First up, we have a new Catwoman. Also, Showtime is making an Uber show and Amazon just released a trailer for the fourth season of The Man in the High Castle. Let’s get started.

Zoë Kravitz Is Going to Play Catwoman

In a bit of perfect casting, Zoë Kravitz is now slated to play Catwoman in director Matt Reeves’ upcoming flick The Batman. Little else is known about the film or its plot, but the Big Little Lies star will be playing opposite Robert Pattinson, who will be wearing the cowl as the Dark Knight. The movie is set to be released June 25, 2021. So, in the words of Janet Jackson, let’s wait awhile.

Showtime Is Making a Limited Series About Uber

Yes, you read that correctly. The cocreators behind the Wall Street drama Billions are now working on a series for Showtime about the drama at Uber. Based on New York Times (and former WIRED) writer Mike Isaac’s book Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber, the series will focus on CEO Travis Kalanick and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, “depict the roller-coaster ride of the company, embodying the highs and lows of Silicon Valley.” Obviously, it’s much too early to say who will play Kalanick, but our money is on Preacher’s Dominic Cooper.
