Brie Larson Says Marvel’s Superheroines Want an All-Female Movie

Remember that scene at the end of Avengers: Endgame where all the women of the Marvel Cinematic Universe gathered on the battlefield to protect the Infinity Gauntlet from Thanos and his henchmen? That was pretty cool, right? Well, the women of the MCU agree with you—and they’ve all told Marvel head Kevin Feige that they want an entire movie of just female superheroes. “I will say that a lot of the female cast members from Marvel walked up to Kevin and we were like, ‘We are in this together, we want to do this,’” Brie Larson (aka Captain Marvel) told Variety. “What that means, I have no idea. I’m not in charge of the future of Marvel, but it is something that we’re really passionate about and we love, and I feel like if enough people out in the world talk about how much they want it, maybe it’ll happen.” Maybe it has to happen? Naw, this needs to happen. Get it going, Kevin.

That New Matrix Movie Might Be Real, Might Have New Cast Member

So there’s been talk of a new Matrix movie for a while now, and frankly, it kind of always feels like vaporware. Warner Bros. announced it was making one, but could it really happen? There were hopes! But hopes have been dashed before. Now, Matrix 4 seems one step closer to happening. Variety reports that Yahha Abdul-Mateen II (Black Manta in last year’s Aquaman) is currently the front-runner for a “secret role” in the film. The actor met with director Lana Wachowski recently and is now close to nabbing the part. Wachowski is slated to write and direct the film, and Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are also supposed to be reprising their roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively. The film is reportedly scheduled to start production in 2020. Cross your fingers, citizens of Zion.

Marvel and Hulu Are Making a Helstrom Show

Marvel and Hulu are getting into the horror business. Together, the two outfits will be making the comic book Helstrom into a TV show for the streaming service. The series, the first horror outing for Marvel Television, focuses on Daimon and Ana Helstrom, the son and daughter of a serial killer who seek to “track down and [terrorize] the worst of humanity—each with their attitude and skills.” The series is set to debut in 2020 and will feature Tom Austen (The Borgias) as Daimon and Sydney Lemmon (Fear the Walking Dead) as Ana.
